The Commonwealth of Federated Colonies (CFC) adopted a standardized time and date system three years after its formation to end confusion with the multiple local calendars among the colony worlds. The government formulated a standard calendar which closely resembled the local time of the capital planet, Jahrl, and then backdated it to the year that Earth was destroyed. They named the new era, After Earth. The new calendar uses a year.day format and no longer uses months.

Year = 420 days (42 weeks)

Week = 10 days
One week has eight workdays, in which the days end in 1-8. Weekends are the days that end in 9 and 0.

Day = 30 hours

Hour = 50 minutes

Example: Freedom’s Delusion begins on 285.156, which is 285 years After Earth on day 156 out of 420.
